June 2-7th

June 2-7th

In Science we were building simple machines. There was an axels and wheels kit, a leavers and pulleys kit and a gears and leavers kit. These were all K'nex kits and we worked in small groups. We could build so many cool things using instructions like wells, scissors, chainsaws (not the dangerous kind), see-saws, sailboats, drills and egg beaters and way more.

Yesterday some of the students started doing their presentations for the class. We had some amazing presentations about Mexico, India, the U.K., Russia, South Korea and Japan. We used our index cards to help us remember our speeches and there were some amazing slides. People really remembered to use expressive voices and eye-contact. Mr. Pressey was giving us feedback about our stars and wishes.

By the way. We are having our Celebration of Learning night on Monday, June 17th from 5 - 6 PM. We really hope to see you all there. We will be sharing lots of information about Math and spelling games. We will be showing off our country research as well as some our simple machine building kits.

April 16

Good morning everyone, I just wanted to remind everyone that we are having our first Google Meet tomorrow at 11 am. If you have not been able to log onto Google Classroom please contact me and I will try to help out however I can. To get onto Google Classroom log onto your student email in the same way that you would get onto Google Docs at school. I should have sent you a class invite. Remember this week we are using Raz Kids for Reading and Prodigy for Math and it would be wonderful if you were practicing your multiplication facts. Grade 3's need to know up to 5 x 5 and the grade 4's need to know up to 7 x 7. We will be using these skills next week when we begin using Google Classroom. Have a great day.

April 14 - 17th Math

Hello, This week for Math we will be using Prodigy  prodigygame . Prodigy is a Maths game where students answer math questions in order to cast spells and collect points. I have assigned questions related to Math concepts that we have covered in class. Once those questions have been answered the program chooses appropriate additional questions based on the students ability level. It is important not to give too much support when students are answering the questions otherwise the program will continue to give out even more challenging questions.  How to help If you notice that they are having trouble with a questions, let them answer but then show them on a piece of paper either what the question is asking or how you might solve the problem. Also near the top of the question there is a prompt button that will give a clue and some math tools such as pens and 100 charts that can also support them. To prepare for next week please practice Multiplication facts with your c
