December 20th

This week we went and visited our kindergarten buddies and did some art. We made reindeers out of popsicle sticks. The hard part was gluing the popsicle sticks because it was hard making them even. Another tricky part was also putting on the antlers because sometimes our buddies struggled twisting them.

We continued learning about multiplication by practicing the easiest and most important times table, the fives. We practiced counting by fives to get faster. We are trying to get so good that we just know the facts without counting by fives. Someone also realized that we can sometimes count by tens to do this too or half a number that is multiplied by ten.

The other day we made Tinfoil Men/ Tinfoil People. It was an art project that helped us learn more about light and shadow. It was used to teach us how an opaque object blocks light and makes shadows. One student said that he liked bending the men because they are very flexible.

To learn more about multiplication we made array buildings. We made buildings out of black paper and glued yellow windows onto the building. The windows were supposed to show us an array of a multiplication sentence. We realized that it was also connected to learning about artificial light which we learned about in science.

Three Left Feet were still here teaching us our dance called Candy Cane Festijo. Our Winter Concert performance is on December 20th at 5:15. All of the parents are invited to come. We have practiced lots so that we will be really fantastic for our celebration and we can add more pizzaz :) to our performance.

Good morning everyone, I just wanted to remind everyone that we are having our first Google Meet tomorrow at 11 am. If you have not been able to log onto Google Classroom please contact me and I will try to help out however I can. To get onto Google Classroom log onto your student email in the same way that you would get onto Google Docs at school. I should have sent you a class invite. Remember this week we are using Raz Kids for Reading and Prodigy for Math and it would be wonderful if you were practicing your multiplication facts. Grade 3's need to know up to 5 x 5 and the grade 4's need to know up to 7 x 7. We will be using these skills next week when we begin using Google Classroom. Have a great day.

Welcome Back April 6th 2020

Hi everyone, I hope that everybody had a wonderful break. I know that it was not as social as we would have wanted and the weather has not quite met my expectations of spring yet. But we are back! Over the next couple of days I will be contacting each of you to find out how your break has been and how your family is handling the new situation. I will also be asking you other questions: is anything that we can help you or your family with? can we help you get in contact with any community supports? what kind of computer access do you have? do you need paper learning packages? do you know your student email and log in information? do you need your passwords reset? do you need help getting onto D2L/ Google Classroom? is your guardian receiving emails? Once we have all of this information we will be in a much better position to help you learn from home. Thanks to the people who were checking the blog over the break.  For today I will be adding things to the...
