February 19th - 22nd

This week we built some bridges. First we started by watching a video about some kids in India who had to cross a rushing river to get to school. Then we started to design a blue print of a bridge that we would build. Next we built our bridges using materials like popsicle sticks, stir sticks, string and LOTS OF TAPE! After we finished we made a video where we talked about why our bridges were strong and why they might fail. Finally we tested our bridges by piling huge Jenga blocks (that weighed 18 and 1/2 small blocks) on our bridges until they collapsed.

We are super excited because Ms. Nguyen has come back to our class! Ms. Nguyen is a student teacher who has come from the U of C. She has been working with some of us to make better mind maps about resources in Canada like coal, gold and lumber.

Another thing we did this week was we practiced our multiplication by making math cards. We looked at our last Friday Frenzy and we looked at some of the questions we got wrong and then we made cards so we can practice by ourselves or with a friend.

April 16

Good morning everyone, I just wanted to remind everyone that we are having our first Google Meet tomorrow at 11 am. If you have not been able to log onto Google Classroom please contact me and I will try to help out however I can. To get onto Google Classroom log onto your student email in the same way that you would get onto Google Docs at school. I should have sent you a class invite. Remember this week we are using Raz Kids for Reading and Prodigy for Math and it would be wonderful if you were practicing your multiplication facts. Grade 3's need to know up to 5 x 5 and the grade 4's need to know up to 7 x 7. We will be using these skills next week when we begin using Google Classroom. Have a great day.

April 14 - 17th Math

Hello, This week for Math we will be using Prodigy  prodigygame . Prodigy is a Maths game where students answer math questions in order to cast spells and collect points. I have assigned questions related to Math concepts that we have covered in class. Once those questions have been answered the program chooses appropriate additional questions based on the students ability level. It is important not to give too much support when students are answering the questions otherwise the program will continue to give out even more challenging questions.  How to help If you notice that they are having trouble with a questions, let them answer but then show them on a piece of paper either what the question is asking or how you might solve the problem. Also near the top of the question there is a prompt button that will give a clue and some math tools such as pens and 100 charts that can also support them. To prepare for next week please practice Multiplication facts with your c
