August 26 - 30

This week Mr. Pressey started rewarding us for all of the amazing things we do. We get a marble each time we help each other, show respect, don't give up and when we are role models. If we get up to 25 marbles we get some bonus activity.

During Science, we continued to do some nature walks to learn about plants. For one of our walks we collected leaves. Then we put them under some paper and did a rubbing with crayons. After that we measured them for math using rulers.

For Friday art this week we drew Anger from Inside Out. We drew Anger because it connected to all of our conversations about Zones of Regulation. We did it after we read the book the Grumpy Monkey.

We started doing our daily writing where we write for 15 minutes about different topics. One of the topics we did was a news retell. We watch a news story about how an island is sinking because of climate change. These islands are in danger because some of them are only 2 meters tall. For writing we also began writing a story, a personal recount and a response to a work of art.

This week Mr. Pressey handed out our first book orders. If we want to get a book we need to bring Mr. Pressey our money by Next Friday. That is September 6th.

For Math, we learned more about measurement. We learned about the different units of measurement like millimetres, centimetres, metres and kilometres. We had to figure out which unit would be the best to measure certain things like cars and people.

For Gym we started our basketball unit. To begin we learned how to dribble the ball. We played games like red light green light, buzz buzz sting and sharks and minnows to practice.

There are still a few students who have not returned their media consent forms. These were the bright orange forms that were given out at the beginning of the year.

April 16

Good morning everyone, I just wanted to remind everyone that we are having our first Google Meet tomorrow at 11 am. If you have not been able to log onto Google Classroom please contact me and I will try to help out however I can. To get onto Google Classroom log onto your student email in the same way that you would get onto Google Docs at school. I should have sent you a class invite. Remember this week we are using Raz Kids for Reading and Prodigy for Math and it would be wonderful if you were practicing your multiplication facts. Grade 3's need to know up to 5 x 5 and the grade 4's need to know up to 7 x 7. We will be using these skills next week when we begin using Google Classroom. Have a great day.

April 14 - 17th Math

Hello, This week for Math we will be using Prodigy  prodigygame . Prodigy is a Maths game where students answer math questions in order to cast spells and collect points. I have assigned questions related to Math concepts that we have covered in class. Once those questions have been answered the program chooses appropriate additional questions based on the students ability level. It is important not to give too much support when students are answering the questions otherwise the program will continue to give out even more challenging questions.  How to help If you notice that they are having trouble with a questions, let them answer but then show them on a piece of paper either what the question is asking or how you might solve the problem. Also near the top of the question there is a prompt button that will give a clue and some math tools such as pens and 100 charts that can also support them. To prepare for next week please practice Multiplication facts with your c
