January 11th

This week we voted on our new class novel. We are reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We have already read 4 chapters. It is about a poor boy named Charlie who lives next to a chocolate factory run by a man named Willy Wonka.

We have started our new Science unit about building and using different materials. On Thursday we used about 5 different materials and built a bridge that needed to hold as many rulers as possible. Today we had a challenge to build a dome out of straw, string, pipe cleaners and tape that needed to hold up a visual journal.

Also we are going to present a poem for the class next Friday. Mr. Pressey put a bunch of poems around the class and we chose one we liked. We need to read with expression, look at the audience, use body language and try to remember it.

April 16

Good morning everyone, I just wanted to remind everyone that we are having our first Google Meet tomorrow at 11 am. If you have not been able to log onto Google Classroom please contact me and I will try to help out however I can. To get onto Google Classroom log onto your student email in the same way that you would get onto Google Docs at school. I should have sent you a class invite. Remember this week we are using Raz Kids for Reading and Prodigy for Math and it would be wonderful if you were practicing your multiplication facts. Grade 3's need to know up to 5 x 5 and the grade 4's need to know up to 7 x 7. We will be using these skills next week when we begin using Google Classroom. Have a great day.

April 14 - 17th Math

Hello, This week for Math we will be using Prodigy  prodigygame . Prodigy is a Maths game where students answer math questions in order to cast spells and collect points. I have assigned questions related to Math concepts that we have covered in class. Once those questions have been answered the program chooses appropriate additional questions based on the students ability level. It is important not to give too much support when students are answering the questions otherwise the program will continue to give out even more challenging questions.  How to help If you notice that they are having trouble with a questions, let them answer but then show them on a piece of paper either what the question is asking or how you might solve the problem. Also near the top of the question there is a prompt button that will give a clue and some math tools such as pens and 100 charts that can also support them. To prepare for next week please practice Multiplication facts with your c
