January 14- 18

This week we started playing the recorder with Mr. Katchur. We learned how to play the B note. We started to learn about the 5 rules for playing the recorder. We needed to remember the Tim Horton's fingers, where we press hard enough that we make little donuts on our fingers.

Earlier in the week we began to learn about Canada in Social Studies. We started by writing down everything that we knew about Canada already. Next we brainstormed questions that we could use to help our research of geographic features. The next day we got into partners and we used google to help us research the answers and put the information onto mind maps.

In Math we started to look at multiplication think boards. We can use this to help us solve harder multiplication problems. We learned five different ways that we can use to solve multiplications problems so we pick the strategy we like best.

During Physical Education we started a new unit about badminton. First we learned how to serve. Next we practiced passing back and forth with our partners. It was hard for some of us to remember to hit the birdie up and not to smash it into the floor, like we are mad.

At the start of this week Mr. Pressey had us pick a poem from a bunch of Shel Silverstein poems scattered around the class. We got to take them home to practice them and we even had some time in class. On Friday we got to perform our poems in front of the class.

April 16

Good morning everyone, I just wanted to remind everyone that we are having our first Google Meet tomorrow at 11 am. If you have not been able to log onto Google Classroom please contact me and I will try to help out however I can. To get onto Google Classroom log onto your student email in the same way that you would get onto Google Docs at school. I should have sent you a class invite. Remember this week we are using Raz Kids for Reading and Prodigy for Math and it would be wonderful if you were practicing your multiplication facts. Grade 3's need to know up to 5 x 5 and the grade 4's need to know up to 7 x 7. We will be using these skills next week when we begin using Google Classroom. Have a great day.

April 14 - 17th Math

Hello, This week for Math we will be using Prodigy  prodigygame . Prodigy is a Maths game where students answer math questions in order to cast spells and collect points. I have assigned questions related to Math concepts that we have covered in class. Once those questions have been answered the program chooses appropriate additional questions based on the students ability level. It is important not to give too much support when students are answering the questions otherwise the program will continue to give out even more challenging questions.  How to help If you notice that they are having trouble with a questions, let them answer but then show them on a piece of paper either what the question is asking or how you might solve the problem. Also near the top of the question there is a prompt button that will give a clue and some math tools such as pens and 100 charts that can also support them. To prepare for next week please practice Multiplication facts with your c
