End of the week Sept 3-6th

Room 8 September 3rd - 6th

This week in Math we continued to develop our measurement skills. We learned about using cm and mm to measure around 2D shapes. Later in the week we discovered how we can use mm, cm and m to estimate length and height.

During Language Arts we started our reading groups. We were split into five different groups and we rotate stations. We rotate between guided reading, reading games, partner reading, silent reading and computer literacy activities.

In gym, we were working on passing during basketball. We learned how to do bounce passes and chest passes. We learned that chest passes were the fastest passes and bounce passes were to get past a defender.

For Science, we learned how to take sketch notes. Sketch notes are when we use words, pictures and diagrams to help us remember information. We used our sketch notes to take notes from a Magic School Bus episode about the needs of a plant. Later we used sketch notes to remember important information from a news story about a fire in the Amazon Rainforest. At the end of the week we planted our own bean seeds which we will take care of in class.

OnTuesday we had, It's a Crime Not to Read. Constable Mike came to our school and read us stories and answered some of our questions. After that we had two wonderful ladies from the Saddletown Library bring in some books which we were allowed to borrow for one month.

April 16

Good morning everyone, I just wanted to remind everyone that we are having our first Google Meet tomorrow at 11 am. If you have not been able to log onto Google Classroom please contact me and I will try to help out however I can. To get onto Google Classroom log onto your student email in the same way that you would get onto Google Docs at school. I should have sent you a class invite. Remember this week we are using Raz Kids for Reading and Prodigy for Math and it would be wonderful if you were practicing your multiplication facts. Grade 3's need to know up to 5 x 5 and the grade 4's need to know up to 7 x 7. We will be using these skills next week when we begin using Google Classroom. Have a great day.

April 14 - 17th Math

Hello, This week for Math we will be using Prodigy  prodigygame . Prodigy is a Maths game where students answer math questions in order to cast spells and collect points. I have assigned questions related to Math concepts that we have covered in class. Once those questions have been answered the program chooses appropriate additional questions based on the students ability level. It is important not to give too much support when students are answering the questions otherwise the program will continue to give out even more challenging questions.  How to help If you notice that they are having trouble with a questions, let them answer but then show them on a piece of paper either what the question is asking or how you might solve the problem. Also near the top of the question there is a prompt button that will give a clue and some math tools such as pens and 100 charts that can also support them. To prepare for next week please practice Multiplication facts with your c
