End of the Week October 21- 25

REMEMBER MONDAY IS PICTURE RETAKES

This week we have been doing lots of work with graphing in Math. Both grades have been exploring how to ask questions and record data using tally charts. The grade 3's have been looking into making pictographs using one-to-one ratios The grade 4's have been making many-to-one ratios with their pictographs and bar graphs.

During our reading time we have been continuing with our class novel and looking at the comprehension skill of visualizing. We learned that good readers make movies in their minds while they read to help them to understand. During our guided reading Mr. Pressey has been helping us to make connections, code break and summarize paragraphs. Keep up the great work that you have been doing with your home reading, last week was the best week that we have had all year.
We have finished writing our Talk For Writing defeating fear stories.  We are currently typing up our stories and adding pictures. Our goal is to share our stories with our kindergarten buddies next week.

Our favourite thing to share is our art work. This week we followed the steps to draw a Frankenstein monster. We then used our creativity skills to make interesting backgrounds. Finally, we responded to art and gave compliments and constructive feedback to our classmates.

April 16

Good morning everyone, I just wanted to remind everyone that we are having our first Google Meet tomorrow at 11 am. If you have not been able to log onto Google Classroom please contact me and I will try to help out however I can. To get onto Google Classroom log onto your student email in the same way that you would get onto Google Docs at school. I should have sent you a class invite. Remember this week we are using Raz Kids for Reading and Prodigy for Math and it would be wonderful if you were practicing your multiplication facts. Grade 3's need to know up to 5 x 5 and the grade 4's need to know up to 7 x 7. We will be using these skills next week when we begin using Google Classroom. Have a great day.

April 14 - 17th Math

Hello, This week for Math we will be using Prodigy  prodigygame . Prodigy is a Maths game where students answer math questions in order to cast spells and collect points. I have assigned questions related to Math concepts that we have covered in class. Once those questions have been answered the program chooses appropriate additional questions based on the students ability level. It is important not to give too much support when students are answering the questions otherwise the program will continue to give out even more challenging questions.  How to help If you notice that they are having trouble with a questions, let them answer but then show them on a piece of paper either what the question is asking or how you might solve the problem. Also near the top of the question there is a prompt button that will give a clue and some math tools such as pens and 100 charts that can also support them. To prepare for next week please practice Multiplication facts with your c
